Llanwern Works

Located in the Corus Works near Newport, Llanwern manufactures and supplies both bulk and bagged consignments of GGBS into the Southwest, South Coast and Midlands of England. It also produces material for East Wales. Capacity is 430,000 tonnes per year.

The facilities at Llanwern are based around a roller press which is used as the finished grinding unit.

This plant was the first in the world to employ such a production system for granulated blast furnace slag.

Since commissioning in 1991 the system has been subjected to enhancement and refinement in association with the original equipment supplier to make it as efficient as possible. Large storage capacity enables the plant to meet peak demand.

Specialist staff dealing with marketing, operations and technical matters are based at the plant. There is also a fully-equipped laboratory at this site.
